What is Meisner Technique?

Actors who are Meisner Trained include Tom Cruise, Diane Keaton, Naomi Watts, Christopher Waltz, James Gandolfini and Steve McQueen.

The Meisner Technique teaches the actor to live truthfully under the given imaginary circumstances. You will be introduced to this step by step approach by seeing how to go from what is real (you, the actor) to the imaginary circumstances (the story) as required by the director. You will see how layers of dramatic structure are built, piece by piece, from Meisner's repetition exercises to playing a full scene. This is for actors who are truly excited by and passionate about the art of acting.

This "taster" workshop is geared towards all levels; beginners and actors alike who are looking to dig deeper into their craft. A fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into the world renowned Meisner Technique with Ireland's ONLY teachers, Robbie and Liza.

Robbie Byrne & Liza Michael 

Robbie & Liza have worked with Tom Radcliffe (a former student of Sanford Meisner) in London. They have trained in Lee Strasberg's Method Acting with Tim McDonnell (a former student of Deirdre O'Connell) in Dublin. They also trained in Paris with Sarah Eigerman, who taught at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in NYC in the 70's. Robbie has also worked with Martin Barter (Sanford Meisner's assistant for 14 years). Robbie decided to bring the Meisner Technique to his Irish birthplace by founding Momentum Acting Studio in 2013 with Liza.
