Fair City

Great, you have been selected for Fair City, it is Ireland's best loved drama with an average of 500,000 people viewing each episode.

You need to adhere to some very basic guidelines.

If you do not adhere to these guidelines, you will NOT receive any further opportunities.

CRITICAL - the 12 Commandments

1. Bring ID with you on the day of the shoot

2. Wear FLAT SOFT SHOES – applies to both Males & Females. Click here to see examples.

3. As you are booked, you HAVE to turn up. You cannot CANCEL. And you HAVE to be on time.

4. NEVER discuss storylines on Facebook, Twitter and other social media or Chat Forums or any other media including newspapers and other published materials

5. Do NOT have your mobile turned on while on set

6. Bring at least FOUR different sets of clothes. Bring clothes appropriate to the weather. NO visible logos, WHITE clothes, BLACK clothes or striped clothes

7. If you reply Yes to an availability check you MUST be available! 

8. NEVER look into the camera during filming

9. If your car is booked - ONLY Petrol cars on set (NO Diesel or noisy cars allowed on set)

10. Do NOT bring any clothes with obvious logos or branding, and no stripes. And NO White tops

11. Do NOT wander while on set and Do NOT leave the set unless you are told to do so

12. Bring accessories, Ladies-hair accessories, Men/women - hats, scarves. Props for coffee shop or outdoor scenes - ipod, briefcase, handbags etc. For outdoor scenes, bring warm clothes, clothes for jogging/walking, backpack etc. Scenes must be believable


1. Turning up

We aim to provide a 100% turn out rate, thus:

(a) If you are booked and do not turn up you will not receive work again

(b) If you turn up late you will not be called for Fair City again 

(c) If you cancel when booked for Fair City, you will not be called for Fair City again


2. IMPORTANT - Confidentiality

You are STRICTLY PROHIBITED from discussing or publishing photos, videos, or any information (including information about actors, scenes and script) gathered while being on set.

This includes posting on facebook, twitter, blogs, other social media / Internet platforms and any published material (newspapers, magazines) etc.

Any infringements are a breach of the Terms & Conditions you have agreed to and you will NOT receive any further opportunities and you may be liable to being sued for breach of contract.


3. General

(a) You MUST follow the instructions of the RTE staff at all times!

(b) Do NOT wander while on set

(c) Do NOT leave the set unless you are told to do so

(d) Be flexible with times as the schedule can change at the last minute

(e) Diesel car are not to be brought to the site.

(f) Always make sure your phone is switched off

(g) Do not bring any valuables with you, neither Fair City nor MovieExtras.ie will be responsible if you lose anything or have anything stolen.

(h) Lunch is NOT provided and your travel cost will not be covered. Please keep this in mind and bring a packed lunch

(i) Be subtle if you are asked to mime a conversation


4. Wardrobe 

Bring at least 4 changes of clothing, you will be required in 4 different scenes and you HAVE to look different in each scene.

Include the following:

(a) Hats and scarves, hair accessories for females

(b) Coats etc need to be different colours

Important - DO NOT bring the following:

(a) NO HIGH HEELS (this is critical - they make too much noise on set)

(b) Tops with stripes or logos

(c) White or black clothes (1 or 2 items are ok, but colour is preferred)


5. Vehicle

If you are asked to bring your car, please make sure:

- it is a petrol car (NO DIESEL cars allowed)

- it is a hatchback

- it is clean on the outside

- that you have a full license

6. Fair City Contact details

Debbie looks after the casting for Fair City and is available on FairCity@MovieExtras.ie. All enquires about Fair City should be sent directly to Debbie. With the exception of pay, which should go to Accounts@MovieExtras.ie


7. Payment Queries

Any payment, social welfare, P45 queries should be emailed to Accounts@MovieExtras.ie ONLY

1. Payment - payment is made by Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT), ie we pay directly into your bank account.

2. Bank Account Details - Make sure that your bank account details are updated on your account.

3. Cheque Payments - If you do not provide your bank account details, there is a surcharge of €5 to issue a cheque. 

4. PPS Number - Ensure you have your PPS number on your profile, otherwise you will be significantly taxed 

5. Time Frame - It can take up to FOUR weeks for payment to issue.
