My Name is Emily
We have a great opportunity for members to make a very extraordinary man’s dream come true! Simon Fitzmaurice had a vision of writing and directing MY NAME IS EMILY and despite being diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease he has achieved this goal and filming begins now!!!
The film industry is behind Simon
Everyone in the film industry is behind Simon with big names rooting for him and crowd funded by thousands! Colin Farrell says “I really hope Simon makes this film. The script already lives its own life, but it would be an enormous gift for us, the audience, to see Simon paint the screen with the beauty that exists within its pages.”
We are trying to get as many MovieExtras.ie members out on set to make this film as amazing as possible and we need you to help his vision come to life!! Can you give a day or two in the coming weeks?

Ice Butt Challenge
OK, so you have probably participated in an Ice Bucket Challenge to support Motor Neuron Disease, but we now need you to do the ultimate challenge - the Irish Ice Butt Challenge!!
This involves running into the ice cold sea on Tuesday September 30th in Wicklow along with 100's of others!! The only catch is, YOU HAVE TO BE NAKED!!! Thankfully the cameras will be rolling from behind you, so only your butt will be on screen.
It is an important scene in the film, so your help would be really appreciated.
If you are available to do this, we encourage you to collect sponsorship for the charity Irish Motor Neuron Association, and if you collect more than €100 you will get a thank you in the CREDITS!!
Alas, there is no payment for participating in this day, but you will be involved in one of the most amazing Irish productions that we have ever been involved with.
Also, you have to be over 18 years of age, beyond that any age, size, shape and everything else is wonderfully acceptable.
About Simon
Simons’ story is remarkable and very inspiring as is his film. MY NAME IS EMILY is a story of madness, sadness and love .
At the age of 34, Simon had established himself as a talented film maker and writer and was launching a promising international film career, premiering his short film The Sound of People at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008. While he was there, Simon noticed a strange pain in his foot. Some time later Simon was diagnosed with motor neuron disease and given 3 years to live. He had 2 little boys at the time and a third on the way with his wife Ruth. Simon's will to live, to love and to make film meant he fought for an alternative, and when the time came, instead of being eased into death, Simon was given a ventilator.
5 years on from diagnosis Simon is alive and living with his wife Ruth and their family of now 5 small children. At the time of diagnosis, Simon started to write his first feature MY NAME IS EMILY with a pen or typing on a keyboard, and he finished it with his eyes, typing on an iris-recognition screen. Simon may not be able to physically move but he is a force of character, strength, love and creativity, a father, a husband and an MND survivor. We are aiming to film MY NAME IS EMILY in 2014, with Simon at the helm, directing his film.
Produced by Kennedy Films and Newgrange Pictures, filming takes place in Dublin form the 15th Sep- 20th October. Along with the reward of helping a very talented and inspiring man make his dreams come to life, food will be provided and a small gratuity to cover travel expenses but there will be no payment for this gig. Simon needs you to be involved in this exciting project! If you have a few free days during the 5 weeks of filming we would love your help with this film!
