What is an Availability Check?
An availability check is checking whether you are available for a Production or not. If you reply YES, the Casting Agent will forward your details onto a Production for the Production to assess whether you are suitable for the role. If you are selected, you will be sent a confirmation text including the exact time & location for the Production.
You will receive both a text message and an email. See below, if you are not receiving either of these. Generally, with the email, if you are not receiving it, check your junk / spam / promotions folder.
What should I do when I receive an Availability Check?
Check whether you are definitely available for the date. If you are, then reply with YES as soon as possible. The sooner you reply, the better the chance of being selected. If you are not available, reply with NO.
Is an Availability Check a booking on a production?
NO, it is only checking whether you are available for a production. If you reply with a YES, your details will be passed onto the Production and invariably they will decide who they would like to book.
I said YES to an Av Check, but circumstances have changed............
If circumstances have changed for you, email or text the Casting Agent that you are dealing with as soon as possible. This will allow the Casting Agent to withdraw your application with the Production.
I said NO to an Av Check, but things circumstances have changed............
If it is after the cut off time, unfortunately, there is nothing that we can do as the final list of those available has been submitted to Production. If the cut off time has not been exceeded, email or text the casting agent with your new circumstances.
Do I need to be available for the full shoot day for a Production?
YES, it is important that you are available for the full day from early morning to late at night. If you have a commitment on the day, than reply NO. A production may have a call time of 6AM in the morning or a Wrap time of 11PM at night.
Do I need to be available for the full day for COVID tests or Fittings?
If you have commitments on the day for a COVID test or a Fitting, and you are available for the shoot date, reply YES and note in the comments what time you are not available at. Some productions maybe able to accommodate you, while others may not.
Is the text message I received a scam?
If you are unsure of the message, we also send an email and a message is posted on your MovieExtras.ie profile. If you did not receive the email, check your junk mail in case it has gone in there.
You can respond to the text message via your profile if you wish.
Can I reply via email?
No, only replies to the text message or via your profile are accepted.
I am not receiving text messages but I am receiving emails
This is generally a Phone or Network issue. Try the following solutions:
(a) Update the software on your mobile and then reboot your mobile.
(b) Check your profile to ensure that you have recorded the correct mobile number on your profile
(c) Report the problem to your Network provider
I am receiving not receiving emails but I am receiving text messages
Check the following:
(a) Your spam / junk / promotions folder. To avoid this from happening, add MovieExtras.ie as a contact in your email
(b) Check your profile to ensure that you have recorded the correct email address on your profile
