Two Leading Females and Additional Actors Needed for "Small World" Short Film

Details of Role

Small World is a drama that explores the concept of 'catfishing' and the potential risks of interacting with strangers online. This short student film follows a young college student who falls victim to catfishing in her quest for love and is left contemplating who she can really trust. Elements of heartbreak, deception and revelation are at the heart of this film.


Characters:

Ruth (Lead Role) - Female- Late Teens/Early Twenties

A shy young college student who lacks confidence and is unhappy in herself. She’s just been through a bad breakup and is going through the motions with the monotony of college life. Feeling vulnerable, when a welcome distraction comes her way in the form of a friend request from a good-looking guy, she gladly accepts.

Lisa (Lead Role) - Female - Late Teens/Early Twenties

Ruth’s bubbly best friend who livens up the atmosphere and makes a habit of sticking her nose in Ruth’s business. She loves giving advice, is a know-it-all in romantic relationships but not academically and she encourages Ruth to start looking for love again.

Thug (Additional Role) - Male - Early/Mid Twenties

A hooded, unkempt figure who makes his presence known to Ruth by approaching her off guard and beating her. He delivers an atmosphere of unease and he acts with purpose.

Five to six additional actors are required to play students. Can be male or female.


*NB* As this is a student project the work will be unpaid and is aimed at those who might want to broaden their acting portfolio.
Shooting will begin during the week of March 18th and regarding days and hours we will negotiate this with actors' availability. The filming location is at Maynooth University Co. Kildare and the surrounding area.
